This Star-Studded Cast Called Garden Studios Home While Filming

GOODBYE JUNE is released in cinemas today (December 12th), marking a significant moment in British independent film and a major creative milestone for Kate Winslet in her directorial debut. Written by her son, Joe Anders, the film follows four estranged siblings brought back together at a critical moment in their lives, delivering an intimate, character-driven story rooted in performance and emotional authenticity.

GOODBYE JUNE stars Helen Mirren, Timothy Spall, Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, and of course, Kate herself.

The film based itself and shot all set scenes and car driving scenes at Garden Studios in North West London, a leading hub for independent film. Our central location and friendly, supportive team enabled the production to focus on delivering an emotional story within the detailed interior sets on our Orchid Stage 1 and Virtual Production Stage.

Kate Winslet
Director, Goodbye June
The experience I had on Goodbye June would not have been possible without the wonderful support of the entire team at Garden Studios. Their willingness to accommodate the requirements of our cast and crew was outstanding, especially given the limited budget we had and with so many of us! They simply made it a joy to come to work every single day.

Garden Supports Independent Films with Transparency, Versatility, and a Supportive Team

Garden Studios’ offering is particularly well suited to independent filmmakers. With a range of stage sizes, onsite virtual production capabilities, and a strong focus on sustainability, the studio allows productions to achieve high production value while maintaining disciplined budgets and streamlined schedules. On Goodbye June, this enabled a filmmaking approach that prioritised performance, storytelling and creative control without the pressures of extensive travel times.

As GOODBYE JUNE arrives in cinemas today, it stands not only as a compelling piece of contemporary British filmmaking, but also as a clear example of how modern studio environments such as Garden Studios are empowering the independent sector to produce work of exceptional quality at an international standard.
