Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what brought you to Garden Studios for your work experience?
My name is Kaden Bracey Castro, and I’m in Year 13 at Global Academy. I discovered Garden Studios through one of my school’s weekly newsletters, which mentioned a new work experience opportunity there. It looked really interesting, so I signed up that same day.
What was your role in creating the Reel Park Royal website?
When I started, I began by making a presentation highlighting all the faults in the original website and gathering examples of other websites that did things better. Then I sketched a rough concept for a redesigned version that would be more appealing and easier to use. After presenting my findings, I started building the new website as part of the Garden Studios site.
After about two months of development and revisions, I got it to the best possible state and presented it to the CEO and others involved in the project.
Was there anything that surprised you about working in a studio environment?
I was surprised by how flexible the work was. I was given the freedom to tackle problems and come up with ideas on my own, which made the experience feel much more engaging and rewarding.
What new skills did you learn during your time at Garden Studios?
During my time here, I learned how to communicate my ideas more effectively and how to make software and websites more intuitive for users.
Did this experience change how you think about your future career or studies?
Yes, it’s made me feel less stressed about entering the working world and has inspired me to pursue an apprenticeship in the future.
What was your favourite moment during your time at Garden Studios?
My favourite moment was seeing the Virtual Production setup and getting the chance to record and edit a video that was later shared on the official LinkedIn page.
